Customer: Komati River Water Project

Need/Application: Pre-filtration of drinking water to reduce suspended solids before filtration and increase process efficiency and use of energy.

The project and its operations provide drinking and domestic water for the regional population in this very rural area near Mozambique. In order to save on resource use, primarily electricity during the treatment and filtration of the water, a solution was needed.

Solution: An array of pre-filtration systems each with 10 filter subsystems was installed at 14 separate locations. Each subsystem handling a flow rate of 300m3/hour and operating at a low pressure of 2 bar.
Results: Major increase in efficiency of the treatment process and reduction in electricity use for the customer. Reliability and low maintenance requirements contribute to high level of success as rural location necessitates a 24 hour a day, 7 days a week continuous function.
